We’ve entered the era of “you’re on your own government” with the sequestration effects starting to take hold.
Air travelers this week began feeling the pinch in their inability to get where they wanted to go in the usual timely fashion. Fewer air traffic controllers because of furloughs caused numerous flight delays.
The end of White House tours created another public outcry. Folks used to military air and naval shows won’t get to see their tax dollars on parade.
Hefty contracts are being canceled, and construction projects are being stalled. Head Start and other programs could be affected, too, The Kansas City Star reports.
It is strange, though, that as government services are taking a serious haircut, the people complaining the most are Republican lawmakers who have always railed against big government. They should be careful what they ask for.
It looks like they’re getting it.
