The Chiefs have the draft’s top overall pick but no choice in the second round, having sent it to San Francisco as part of the trade for quarterback Alex Smith. They could get a second-round pick back by completing a trade of left tackle Branden Albert to Miami. The Chiefs have two picks in the third round (63rd and 96th overall), one in the fourth (99), one in the fifth (134), two in the sixth (170 and 204) and one in the seventh (207).
The Chiefs still need to fill some roster holes at offensive tackle, linebacker, defensive line and safety — it also wouldn’t be a surprise if they drafted a quarterback, even though they traded for Smith and signed Chase Daniel — so they should be able to cover some ground with their eight picks.
