Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts said once again Monday’s he’s worried about excessive spending for food stamps.

The Inspector General at USDA said there has not been an evaluation of $45 billion in food stamp spending as part of the stimulus.

“As we begin to mark-up a new farm bill, the debate should include reasonable reforms to food stamps,” Roberts’ release said. He’s proposed cutting $36 billion from food stamps over the next ten years.

Roberts’ campaign committee recently filed its first-quarter fundraising and spending report, which included the following purchases from campaign funds for meals:

Johnny’s Half Shell $649.61

La Lucia $654.05

Yard House Kansas City $160.72

Capital Grille $104

The Source Wolfgang Puck $76

Red Hot and Blue $100.75

The meals were for staff members. It isn’t clear if Roberts was among the diners.
