Platte County sheriff’s deputies stopped a van on Interstate 29 on Tuesday and found more than 13 pounds of suspected cocaine believed to be worth a least $595,000, officials said.

Two California residents were charged Wednesday with drug trafficking. Marcos V. Gonzalez, 36, and Lorena Bustos, 38, were in the Platte County jail in lieu of $500,000 cash bond each.

Deputies stopped the southbound van near Interstate 435 about 9:45 p.m. for traffic violations. During a search of the vehicle, they found the suspected cocaine in duffel bags in the rear of the truck.
