Police arrest 23 for driving under the influence

At a sobiety checkpoint near Wheeler Downtown Airport Friday night and early Saturday morning, Kansas City police, in conjunction with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, arrested 23 motorists for driving under the influence.

Officers stopped 879 vehicles between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. at U.S. 169 and Northwest Harlem Road.

Two motorists were cited for driving on a suspended or revoked license. Two were issued hazardous moving violations. One person was cited for hindering and interferring, and four other traffic violations were issued.
