Shares in YRC Worldwide climbed nearly 9 percent Friday, making it the biggest percentage gainer among regional stocks.
The trucking giant gained 64 cents on the day to close at $8.02.
Other regional winners, on a percentage basis, included UMB Financial, up .4%, Garmin, up .8%, and Kansas City Southern, uip .5%.
The loser list included, O’Reilly Automotive, down .8%, Waddell & Reed, down .7%, Sprint, off .6 percent, and Cerner, down .9%.
Meanwhile, Wall Street ended weakly on Friday, pulling back from record levels, after reports showed an unexpected drop in retail sales and unimpressive earnings from major banks.
The Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index lost 0.3 percent by the end of trading, the Dow Jones industrial average was virtually unchanged and the Nasdaq composite index dropped 0.2 percent.
The BATS 1000 fell 53.01 points, or 0.29 percent, to close at 17,926.09.
Capitol Federal Financial rose 6 cents, or 0.50%, to close at $11.96.
Cerner Corp. fell 86 cents, or 0.90%, to close at $94.68.
Commerce Bancshares Inc. fell 28 cents, or 0.71%, to close at $39.42.
Compass Minerals fell 26 cents, or 0.32%, to close at $80.96.
DST Systems Inc. fell 25 cents, or 0.35%, to close at $70.34.
Ferrellgas Partners L.P. rose 10 cents, or 0.52%, to close at $19.16.
Garmin Ltd. rose 26 cents, or 0.75%, to close at $34.72.
Great Plains Energy rose 2 cents, or 0.08%, to close at $23.65.
H&R Block Inc. fell 18 cents, or 0.63%, to close at $28.58.
Inergy L.P. fell 6 cents, or 0.27%, to close at $21.90.
Kansas City Life Insurance Co. rose 6 cents, or 0.16%, to close at $36.53.
Kansas City Southern rose 56 cents, or 0.52%, to close at $107.77.
Layne Christensen Co. fell 2 cents, or 0.07%, to close at $20.49.
O'Reilly Automotive Inc. fell 87 cents, or 0.84%, to close at $103.14.
Sprint Nextel Corp. fell 4 cents, or 0.64%, to close at $6.22.
