Part of eastbound I-435 in Joco to close overnight Friday

Updated: 2013-04-11T13:00:50Z

Motorists in Johnson County will find a heavily traveled stretch of Interstate 435 closed overnight Friday.

The eastbound lanes of I-435 from Interstate 35 to U.S. 69 will close so crews can set bridge girders into place for the new southbound U.S. 69 bridge over I-435.

Crews will also complete the installation of overhead signs and conduit under the Quivira Road bridge and will paint the Quivira Road bridge girders.

The highway will close from 10 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday.

Before the eastbound lanes close, motorists will also notice the following closings:

• The right lane of eastbound I-435 at U.S. 69 will close at 8 p.m. Friday.

• North- and southbound ramps from I-35 to eastbound I-435 will close from 9:30 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.

• The ramp from Quivira road to eastbound I-435 will close from 9:30 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.

Eastbound I-435 traffic will detour north on I-35 and then east on 87th Street Parkway. Traffic then will head south U.S. 69 to reach eastbound I-435.
