Yost ready for home opener

Updated: 2013-04-08T18:49:45Z

The Royals hit the field earlier than normal for batting practice as they prepare for today's home opener against the Twins at 3 pm. With all the opener festivities, they had to get batting practice out of the way starting at noon.

Outside the field, the parking lot was already filling up around 11:30 with tailgaters grilling and drinking. There appeared to be more tailgaters than fans in the stadium watching BP. One loyal fan watching the Royals take BP had a massive KC tattoo on his neck. (Photo to come.)

Ned Yost met with the media in the dugout during BP and said he was ready to enjoy his own home opener. After a 3-3 start, he likes what he's seen so far from his team.

"We're playing very well. I like the way we've been pitching. I don't think we've been swinging the bats what we're capable of....I really like my team."
