Document shredding event planned for Saturday

Updated: 2013-04-02T12:51:19Z

People with boxes of documents they no longer need will be able to safely get rid of them at a community shredding event this weekend.

The Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline along with Shred-It and the Overland Park Police Department will host the event.

It will run from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Sanders Station, 12400 Foster Ave. in Overland Park.

Shred-It will have one of its high-speed, mobile cross-shredders. Shredded materials will be recycled.

There is a limit of three boxes or bags per vehicle. Volunteers will direct traffic and help remove materials.

Cash donations will be accepted to benefit the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline.

For more information, contact the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission at 816-960-6800.
