Howerton+White, a Wichita-based agency, selected OneKC for Women as its first Kansas City client and has updated OneKCForWomen.com, as part of a broader marketing plan to increase the nonprofits visibility.
Technology continues to change, but nonprofits sometimes lag behind, said Sherry Turner, president of OneKC for Women. Now were on top of it. This has given us the opportunity to be in the best search engine optimization shape for women in all socio-economic situations.
OneKC for Women was created in 2009 when the Womens Employment Network, the Kansas Womens Business Center and the Womens Capital Connection joined forces. The combined organization serves entry-level job seekers, professionals and entrepreneurs seeking advice and capital.
Corey Hampton, who is opening Howerton+Whites Kansas City office, said the new web portal is designed to be more user-specific and user-friendly.
It starts with questions that help users navigate through the system for their different needs, Hampton said.
The nonprofit and the agency were linked through someone familiar with the Archer Foundation, a Kansas City foundation that focuses on onprofits that deal with job growth, entrepreneurial help and job readiness training.
Howerton+White is providing a huge in-kind contribution to us, Turner said. We did have a common website before but it wasnt allowing the search capability that it does now. Now we can message to different people differently.
