Studebaker was scheduled to make $2.055 million in salary this season, no doubt a factor in the Chiefs’ decision to move on.
Both of the Chiefs starting outside linebackers, Tamba Hali and Justin Houston, were Pro Bowlers last season. But the Chiefs are not short on experienced depth and may have to add an outside linebacker through free agency.
Studebaker played five seasons for the Chiefs, mostly on special teams. He started eight games and his signature game on defense came in 2009 when the Chiefs upset the Pittsburgh Steelers at Arrowhead Stadium.
Studebaker had two interceptions that day and returned one 96 yards.
