Spring weather’s on the way — with chance of more snow hard on its heels

Updated: 2013-03-28T23:11:06Z

Ah, spring. Finally.

Temperatures are expected to climb through the 40s, 50s and possibly into the lower 60s by this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo.

The weather is finally returning to “normal” conditions for late March. There might be some showers and even a few thunderstorms tonight and Saturday.

But don’t wait to enjoy it. It’s going to be short-lived as winter refuses to release its cold grasp on the area.

A powerful arctic cold front is expected to sweep across the area Sunday night, sending temperatures tumbling into the 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

With the colder temperatures, there’s also a chance for a band of wintry mix or snow. Depending on its timing and intensity, minor accumulations may be possible.

Consider it Mother Nature’s April Fool’s Day joke.
