Northbound I-35 in Kansas City, Kan., reopens after multi-vehicle crash

Updated: 2013-03-27T13:18:12Z

A multi-vehicle crash forced the closure of northbound Interstate 35 in Kansas City, Kan., for more than 90 minutes during today’s morning commute.

The crash occurred about 6:25 a.m. along northbound I-35 near the Southwest Boulevard Exit. The extent of injuries were not immediately available.

As emergency crews worked to clear the wrecked vehicles, traffic was at a standstill along that stretch of highway. Traffic started inching past the wrecked cars about 7 a.m. but drivers still faced a back-up that stretched past Metcalf Avenue.

All lanes of the highway reopened about 8:05 a.m.

Motorists were urged to find alternate routes, such as Interstate 635 or the 18th Street Expressway north to Interstate 70 into downtown Kansas City.
