Updated: 2013-03-25T22:07:37Z

The University of Kansas has named David Cook the new vice chancellor for its Edwards campus in Overland Park.

Cook now serves as the associate vice chancellor for community engagement at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He begins his new assignment on April 15.

Cook replaces Mary Ryan, who has been interim vice chancellor since Jan. 1, when Bob Clark stepped down to help the university expand its science and math program for pre-college students in Kansas.

An associate professor at KU Medical Center, Cook is also the associate director of the Institute for Community and Public Health.
