Handcuffed suspect steals sheriffs squad car, crashes in Grandview

Arrested a short time later, the suspect is in jail after being treated for injuries stemming from the crash.
The incident started near 106th Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard when the deputy pulled over a car that had expired license tags, according to the sheriffs office. The deputy arrested the 34-year-old Overland Park man for having a suspended drivers license.
Though handcuffed and seat-belted in the back seat of the police vehicle, he was able to maneuver his hands from behind his back, slip into the drivers seat and speed away.
A few minutes later, the car crashed in the 12400 block of Blue Ridge.
