North Kansas City names new police chief

Steve Beamer, a long-time officer with the North Kansas City Police Department, has been selected as the new police chief for the department.

Chief Beamer has served more than 34 years with the department. He has been a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, captain, major and most recently commander of the patrol division.

“I am very happy to be selected as the Chief of Police for North Kansas City,” Beamer said in a release. “I am proud of this organization and the men and women who serve with it. I look forward to working with the citizens and businesses of the city to help keep it a safe and vibrant community.”

Beamer, a graduate of North Kansas City High School, earned a bachelors of science degree in criminal justice administration from Central Missouri State University and a masters of public administration degree from Park University.
