Pressey, a junior point guard, was chosen to the second team, while senior forwards Bowers and Oriakhi received honorable mention. Pressey averages 11.6 points per game and leads the SEC in assists with 7.1 per game, while Oriakhi averages 11.1 points and a team-high 8.6 rebounds per game. Bowers, who missed five conference games because of a knee injury, averages a team-high 14.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
Missouri, 23-10, is one of three SEC teams to make the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers, who are seeded ninth in the Midwest Region, will face eighth-seeded Colorado State in the round of 64 at 8:20 p.m. Thursday at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky.
Missouri coach Frank Haith said he will be relying on Pressey, Oriakhi and Bowers the only Tigers who have played in the NCAA Tournament before to help the Tigers get mentally prepared.
Phil played great last year in the Norfolk State game in Omaha and obviously Laurence has been to the NCAA tournament and Alex won a national championship, so I think those guys are talking to our players about (taking it) one game at a time, Haith said. I know its coach speak, but I think thats the way you got to look at it.
