Updated: 2013-03-16T02:51:25Z

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback today named Overland Park attorney Timothy McCarthy to a district court judgeship in Johnson County. He will replace retiring Judge John P. Bennett.

“Tim’s experience as civil litigation attorney and judge pro tem will serve Kansans of the 10th Judicial District well,” Brownback said in a news release.

McCarthy is a partner at the law firm of Gilliland & Hayes, where he has worked since 2006. The governor’s office said he also serves as a judge pro tem for the district court and for the Edwardsville Municipal Court.
