Think you might've seen new Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith in the crowd at the Sprint Center?
You sure did.
Smith got some face time during the KU-Texas Tech game as the ESPN2 broadcasters looked for ways to hold viewers' interest in what became a Jayhawks blowout.
Perhaps so as to not offend Chiefs fans who wear purple or black and gold, he watched the game from behind the Red Raiders' bench with a couple of Chiefs executives.
Smith is in town after appearing yesterday at Arrowhead for an introductory news conference (wonder if he knows that his predecessor, Matt Cassel, signed with the Vikings today?).
We can only assume Smith's had barbecue by now. Heck, he's just an inferiority complex and a few jokes about the weather away from being a Kansas Citian.
Interesting footnote: Sean Smith (no relation to Alex), the former Dolphins cornerback who reportedly is headed to Kansas City as another free-agent signing by the Chiefs, was not at the KU game.
