Many Royals fans got their wish Wednesday when manager Ned Yost said pitcher Luke Hochevar was no longer in the running for a spot in the rotation.

The Royals tweeted that the competition was down to “LHPs Bruce Chen and Will Smith and RHPs Luis Mendoza and Yordano Ventura.”

Seems likely that the race is between Chen and Mendoza, but who knows?

So who would you like to see get the No. 5 spot? Here is how each player is doing this spring and their numbers from last season with the Royals:

Bruce Chen

Spring training: 1-0, 6.23 ERA, 8.2 IP, 7 H, 8 K, 2 BB

2012: 11-14, 5.07 ERA, 191.2 IP, 215 H, 140 K, 47 BB

Luis Mendoza
