Ella the Elmwood Cemetery deer attacked by dogs

Updated: 2013-03-14T03:00:28Z

The female deer that lives in Kansas City’s historic Elmwood Cemetery was attacked by some dogs but seems to be OK.

Ella the deer has lost some fur down to the skin on her side and face but she does not appear to have any broken bones, according to Bruce Mathews, an Elmwood trustee. He reported that she was frisky and in good spirits Wednesday.

Ella has become a favorite of visitors to the cemetery on Truman Road and Van Brunt Boulevard. She developed a friendship late last year with an abandoned dog, which was later rescued.
