WICHITA — Investigators are reviewing search-and-rescue procedures after a 65-year-old man was found dead in a cluttered apartment more than two months after a fire there.
The body was discovered Tuesday by someone cleaning the apartment. The Dec. 27 fire was ruled accidental.
“We’re still not sure as to exactly what’s going on here,” Capt. Joe Evans said.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause — and time — of death. Fire Marshal Brad Crisp said the body was found near the bed.
Neighbors had told authorities they hadn’t seen the tenant for months and thought he had left the country.
