The ale is collaboration with Boulevards neighbor, the Roasterie. The businesses began testing samples in late September, and the final limited-edition beer was put in kegs and 750 ml bottles in late January.
Unlike some coffee beers that are dark and heavy, the new Boulevard beer is a lighter beer with a coffee aroma made by seeping a coarsely-ground light Ethiopian roast into Boulevard ale, according to Boulevard officials.
Liquor and grocery stores that typically carry Boulevards Smokestack Series will probably have the new ale. Prices will vary depending on the retailer. Some restaurants also will have the Coffee Ale on tap.
Delivery just starts on Tuesday, and it generally takes us about five business days to service our entire distribution area, said Jon Poteet, vice president of marketing for Central States Beverage Co. A good way to keep up on who has it is to check out kcbeerblog.com.
