Free wireless Internet access is being provided during March Madness in the Power & Light District by Time Warner Cable, the company announced this week.

The free access started Wednesday and will run through March 24, the company said in a release.

After that, it will be available to Time Warner Cable customers with starter or standard Internet packages or better. In November, Time Warner Cable said it was adding TWC Wi-Fi in such areas as the River Market, the Crossroads District, the 18th and Vine District, Brookside, Waldo, Westport and Loose Park.

“The conference basketball tournament at Sprint Center is one of the most anticipated events in Kansas City each year, and we are excited to provide TWC Wi-Fi for fans during the event, as well as the NCAA Tournament games the following week,” said Perry Watson, Time Warner Cable’s area vice president of operations.
