Mid-America Labor/Management Conference to be held July 14-17

Labor-management conference

Lafe Solomon, acting general counsel of the National Labor Relations Board, will appear at the 28th annual Mid-America Labor/Management Conference to be held July 14-17 at the Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Mo.

The conference also will feature a live session of oral arguments before a Missouri Court of Appeals panel on labor-related issues.

Sessions on key labor-management topics will be led by experts from the NLRB, the Missouri Department of Labor and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, among others.

Other upcoming events planned by the Labor/Management Council of Greater Kansas City:

• Anniversary Celebration and Awards Dinner, April 18 at Argosy Casino.

• Craig Whitaker Memorial Golf Tournament, July 22 at Oakwood Country Club.

• A public officials reception on Nov. 15 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

Outreach forum

The second Skilled Trades Community Outreach Forum will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 23 at Shelter House No. 1 in Swope Park.

Information and applications for entry requirements will be available for many trade and labor positions.

Food and beverages will be served.

The event is sponsored by the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus of the Greater Kansas City Area IBEW Local 124, the NAACP of Kansas City, the Kansas City Building Trades, Kansas City Power & Light, the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department, the Full Employment Council, the Builders Association and the Kansas City Labor Council.
