Dog gets surgery after donations roll in

Updated: 2013-03-09T01:55:14Z

When a dog flies off a bridge, Kansas City steps up.

Lindey the German shepherd had five hours of leg and dental surgery Thursday — with more treatment to come — after people donated more than $15,000 for the dog who fell or was thrown from the 23rd Street Viaduct.

She hit paws and face first in the parking lot near Hale Arena. She arrived at a clinic in shock, with blood in her stomach and her teeth driven into her jaws.

“She was clearly propelled,” Nancy Campbell, president of Missouri German Shepherd Rescue, said Friday.

“She’s still scared and cowers at quick movements.”

Lindey still needs a lengthy recovery before being adopted.
