Will Penamon

SCHOOL: Fort Osage

YEAR: Sophomore

SPORT: Basketball

After the Indians let a double-digit lead trickle away, Penamon buried a short floater with seven seconds remaining to lift Fort Osage to a two-point victory against Liberty in the Class 5 District 15 championship game. A sophomore point guard, Penamon finished the game with 11 points, four assists and three rebounds. The Indians, 22-4, play Rockhurst at 6 p.m. Saturday with a trip to the Missouri Class 5 state tournament on the line.

Mackenzie Saulnier

Saulnier had a ridiculous week. It started Monday with the weather-delayed Class 6A regional at Olathe Lanes East, where she banged out 30 strikes on the way to the individual gold. Saulnier rolled an insane 804 series, including strikes on 22 of her last 23 balls. She started with a 234 then rolled games of 290 and 280, leading the Ravens to a team title as well. Four days later, Saulnier tacked on a 6A championship as well. She posted a 707 series at Northrock Lanes in Wichita and won by 44 pins.
