Gonzaga, which defeated No. 9 K-State 68-52 in Seattle three months ago, will face the Wildcats in the return game of the neutral-court series in Wichita, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.
The game is set for December, but an official date has not been finalized. An official announcement is expected after the current season ends.
K-State last played in Wichita during the 2011-12 season against West Virginia. The game was played in front of a wild sellout crowd with the Mountaineers winning 85-80 in double overtime.
Wildcats coaches and administrators said they hoped to return to Intrust Bank Arena in future seasons and have been working with Idol Sports, a game promoter that helped organize K-State’s previous games against West Virginia and Gonzaga, to play another game there. K-State coach Bruce Weber said earlier this season that a return to Wichita in 2013 was a strong possibility.
