One shot dead, one wounded in Olathe

A 52-year-old man is dead and a 51-year-old woman was in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the thigh after an armed disturbance Tuesday night in Olathe.

Police were called about 10:20 p.m. to a home in the 15800 block of West 148th Terrace, near South Arapaho Drive.

According to dispatcher radio traffic, a woman on the phone with police said she had locked herself in her upstairs bedroom and her mother and father were downstairs. She told police she heard two shots.

When emergency crews arrived they found a woman with a gunshot wound to the leg and the man dead inside the house from a gunshot wound.

Police are calling the case an aggravated battery. It is still under investigation.
