New college: Strayer University, which serves working adults, is opening its first Kansas City campus at 10450 Holmes Road. It offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in business administration, accounting, information systems, information technology, human resource management, education, health services administration, public administration, management, economics and criminal justice online and on campus. Smells like cinnamon: For the 27th year, Nativity of Mary Catholic Church is selling fresh cinnamon bread, which will be available from 1 to about 6 p.m. March 15-16 at the parish hall, U.S. 40 and East 36th Terrace. Kansas City
Streetcar meeting today: The city has scheduled a public meeting from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Union Station, 30 W. Pershing Road, to discuss the Kansas City Downtown Streetcar project. It will be an open house, where visitors can stop by anytime.
Exhibits will be on display to illustrate the two-mile route, and information about construction, station stops and the vehicle maintenance facility also will be available. Construction is expected to start in late spring or early summer, so anyone affected is encouraged to attend.
The starter line runs generally along Main Street from the River Market to Union Station. Visit www.kcstreetcar.org for updates on the project.
Blue Springs
Benefit Friday for depot: The True Blue Gospel Bluegrass Band will perform Friday night at a fund-raiser for the restoration of the city’s historic train depot. The event, which also includes a silent auction, begins at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church auditorium, 15th and Main streets.
