Alcohol suspected in high-speed, rear-end crash in Overland Park

Updated: 2013-03-05T14:21:32Z

Two people were rushed to the hospital late Monday after the SUV they were in was rear-ended by a suspected drunken driver who was speeding.

Witnesses told police that a blue Honda CR-V was northbound on Metcalf with a man and woman about 10:45 p.m. when a speeding, tan GMC pickup rear-ended it. Both vehicles suffered major damage in the crash.

The two people in the CR-V were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. The pickup driver and his passenger were not injured.

Police suspect that the pickup driver might have been drinking.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
