Jeran Randall Secratt, 28, of Tahlequah, Okla., surrendered to authorities after pleading guilty in Kansas City federal court to one count of producing child pornography and one count of extortion.
As part of his plea agreement, lawyers agreed that he would serve a 15-year sentence.
In his plea agreement, Secratt admitted he met the girl in an online game in 2007, when she was 13, and began having sex chats with her. He encouraged her to get a webcam, which she obtained that Christmas.
When the girl refused to send intimate images of herself, Secratt threatened to send copies of their sex chats to everyone on her email contact list, including friends and family members.
The girl, who had turned 14, complied.
Secratt later told investigators that he thought the girl was 17, but his own words proved that wasn’t correct, according to court records.
In a July 21, 2007, chat with the girl, Secratt acknowledged that he knew how their relationship could end.
“You being 13 makes you jailbait,” Secratt wrote. “If you tell, I go to jail with (a) horrible label for the rest of my life.”
