The project is across the street from the University of Kansas Hospital.
7-Eleven is scheduled to open in mid-April in a 3,050-square-foot corner space. It will join the 83-room Holiday Inn Express and Five Guys Burgers and Fries, already open in the projects first phase.
According to project developer Lane4 Property Group, the 7-Eleven will be one of the companys urban walk-up stores, which put an emphasis on fresh grab-and-go products. Convenience Store News, a trade publication, said the urban stores feature more sophisticated designs and tend to have less parking than their suburban counterparts, thus the walk-up designation.
More than 270,000 people work in a five-mile radius of the 39Rainbow project and more than 265,000 people live in that area, according to market research by Lane4.
A second phase, scheduled to open in early 2014, will have retail, restaurants and medical offices.
