• ABOUT TEXAS TECH (10-17, 3-13 Big 12): The Red Raiders snapped a nine-game losing streak on Saturday with a 72-63 home victory against TCU. Junior forward Jaye Crockett is Texas Tech’s only double-digit scorer, but he’s come off the bench in 24 of 27 games this season. Texas Tech coach Chris Walker’s one-year, interim audition has been a rocky one. The Red Raiders have lost their last four road games by an average of 17 points, and they haven’t picked up a road victory since Jan. 5 at TCU. Still, Texas Tech held Kansas to just five field goals in the first half in a 60-46 loss in Lubbock on Jan. 12.
• ABOUT KANSAS (25-4, 13-3 Big 12): Two days after guard Ben McLemore set the KU single-game freshman scoring record with 36 points against West Virginia, the Jayhawks will be back in Allen Fieldhouse to celebrate their four-man senior class on senior day. After an 85-80 loss to Oklahoma State on Feb. 2, the Jayhawks have won their last four home games by an average of 24.8 points per game, and the Jayhawks can lock up at least a share of their ninth straight Big 12 title with victories against Texas Tech and at Baylor on Saturday. While the seniors are definitely signing off, this may also be the final game at Allen Fieldhouse for McLemore, who is projected to be a top pick in this summer’s NBA Draft. McLemore is averaging 23 points per game in eight Big 12 home games. Kansas leads Texas Tech 23-4 in the all-time series, including a 12-0 record at Allen Fieldhouse.
• BOTTOM LINE: There will be plenty of emotion in the building as four seniors — and maybe McLemore — play their final home game. That should be enough to combat the natural inclination to overlook Texas Tech.
