According to the Dallas Morning News, Andrus rubbed his left biceps with a moisturizing balm and said: Its on fire.
The pain was so severe, it kept Andrus out of Texas spring-training game against Cleveland.
What could have caused such suffering? A tattoo.
The Associated Press reported that Andrus spent nine hours the two days before Thursday's game under a needle. He wanted a likeness of his late father, Emilo Andrus, who died in 1996 when Elvis was 7.
The tattoo covers most of Andrus' left arm above his elbow.
Andrus, who is expected to play today, told the Morning News: It was do it now or never. Im really proud of this. Its something thats going to be with me forever.
Now or never? Its just a spring-training game, but you have to wonder why he didnt get this done, say, last month.
