Former Leavenworth Fire Chief Mark DeMaranville appeared in traffic court Wednesday on a charge of driving while under the influence. The charge stemmed from a one-vehicle accident on Sept. 5. According to Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson, DeMaranville is asking the court for a diversion program. The Atchison County Attorney is handling the case to avoid a conflict of interest.
