Independence hotel evacuated after gas odor

The Quality Inn & Suites hotel at 420 S. Noland Road was evacuated after a report of a natural gas odor shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Independence police said the gas was shut off and there was no danger, but the evacuation was a precaution. The guests were allowed to return to their rooms about 8 p.m.
