KC to open community center for those without power

The Southeast Community Center in Swope Park will be open overnight for people without power or heat in their homes.

The city of Kansas City and the American Red Cross are partnering to make the center available beginning at 7 p.m. It is located at 4201 E. 63rd St.

The Kansas City Power & Light Co. reports there still are more than 27,000 customers without power.
