Blood center asks for donors starting Wednesday

Updated: 2013-02-27T00:38:02Z

The Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City put out a plea this afternoon for donors to begin coming out again Wednesday after the snow has passed to give urgently needed blood.

The snowstorm forced the Blood Center to close its six donation centers today. The bad weather also has halted blood drives at community sites such as schools, businesses and places of worship. The Blood Center estimates that the storm will cause it to lose nearly two days of blood collections. It now has half a day’s supply on hand.

For more information, or to make an appointment to donate, visit savealifenow.org or call 816-753-4040.
