Missouri high school basketball playoffs pushed to Thursday

Winter weather has thrown a wrench into the opening week of the Missouri Class 5 and Class 4 basketball playoffs.

All district boys and girls games in Kansas City on Tuesday have been postponed.

The Class 5, District 13 semifinal boys games at Lee’s Summit West have been rescheduled for Thursday. Rockhurst will face Ruskin at 7 p.m., followed by Lee’s Summit West against Raymore-Peculiar at 8:30.

The Class 5, District 15 semifinal girls games at Liberty High School have moved to Thursday. Kearney and William Chrisman will tip at 4 p.m., with Truman and Liberty scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Class 5, District 16 first-round boys games at Park Hill South have also been pushed back to Thursday. Oak Park and Staley will start at 4 p.m., immediately followed by Park Hill vs. North Kansas City.

Four Class 4, District 13 first-round games at Pleasant Hill are slated to be played Thursday. Odessa and Warrensburg will meet in a girls game at 4 p.m. The same two schools will tip off in a boys contest at 5:30 p.m. Clinton and Oak Grove are slated to meet in a girls game at 7 p.m., and Clinton’s boys team will face Harrisonville at 8:30 p.m.

The Class 4, District 14 games scheduled at Grandview were postponed Tuesday and will be played Thursday instead. The girls tournament will feature Raytown South vs. Center at 4 p.m., Grain Valley vs. Southwest at 5:30 p.m. and Pembroke Hill vs. Grandview at 7 p.m. In the boys district, Grandview plays Southwest at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

All Class 4, District 15 first-round games — boys and girls — will be played Thursday at Liberty North. In the girls tournament, Excelsior Springs will play East at 3:30 p.m., followed by the Van Horn vs. Northeast at 5 p.m.

In the boys tournament, Lincoln Prep will take on Excelsior Springs at 6:30 p.m., and East faces Van Horn at 8 p.m. The postponement of the first-round games will move the semifinal games to Friday. The championship games in the Class 4, District 15 tournaments will take place as scheduled Saturday.

The Class 4, District 16 games at St. Joseph Benton will be played Thursday. In the girls district tournament, Benton will take on Chillicothe at 4 p.m., and Smithville will meet St. Joseph Lafayette at 5:30 p.m.

In the boys tournament, St. Joseph Lafayette is set to face Chillicothe at 7 p.m., and Smithville will face Savannah at 8:30 p.m. to conclude the night.

On the Kansas side, there were no 6A or 5A games scheduled on Tuesday. Those sub-states are scheduled to start Wednesday.
