A motorist tried to pull a woman into his vehicle this morning as she walked near 31st Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard, Independence police said.

The incident was reported just before 11 a.m. The victim told police that a man driving a white Taurus pulled alongside her and made several sexual gestures toward her. He then tried to pull her into his vehicle but she broke free, ran away and called police.

The motorist drove off in an unknown direction.

Police did not have a detailed description of the driver.
