They are taking a building at 11977 S. Strang Line Road that formerly housed a Hooters restaurant. Lawrence’s La Parrilla also had a short stint in the space.
The Olathe Taqueria Mexico is scheduled to open in late March or early April.
“We’re a family a business that’s been around for nearly 20 years,” said Jose Ricardo Romo, owner of the restaurants with his older brothers Arturo Romo and David Romo. “I think our food is very real Mexican food and we have a lot of customers come from Olathe and Overland and many, many times they asked why we don’t open a restaurant out there.”
The brothers have three restaurants in Kansas City and also own a restaurant under another name in El Dorado, Kan.
Larry Gaines and Phil Peck of Block & Co. Inc. Realtors handled the lease negotiations for the new restaurant.
