Officers answered a shooting call in the 300 block of South Sunrise Drive, near the intersection at Missouri 58, at 7:10 a.m. and found Danielle Beckett, 30, suffering from a gunshot wound, said Police Chief Jan Zimmerman. The victim died just before 8 a.m. at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
Police arrested her husband, Erick Beckett, 34, who later was charged with first-degree murder and held on a $500,000 bond. Earlier, police said they had questioned two people who were at the home at the time of the shooting. Officers served a search warrant at the home late Saturday afternoon and took video of the inside of the dwelling, Zimmerman said.
“It’s a real tragic situation,” Zimmerman said.
