A 31-year-old Missouri man is in critical condition after his SUV struck a semi head-on in Kingman County on Friday, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.

Justin W. Adams, of Lees Summit, was driving a 2012 Jeep Liberty east on U.S. 54 when he failed to negotiate a curve eight miles west of Kingman. He crossed into incoming traffic about 3:40 p.m. and struck a 2013 Peterbuilt semi pulling a trailer, according to the highway patrol.

Adams was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, where he was listed in critical condition Friday evening, a house supervisor said.

He was wearing a seat belt, according to the accident report.

Semi driver Lynn Andrews, 51, and two passengers – Becky Andrews, 45, and 70-year-old Carolyn Meadows – were uninjured, the highway patrol reports. A fourth person in the semi, 71-year-old James Meadows, had possible injuries.

All are Missouri residents.
