Updated: 2013-02-22T21:34:58Z

More than 60 area restaurants plan to participate in a fundraiser on Saturday for employees of the former JJ’s restaurant, leveled in a gas explosion earlier this week.

The restaurants will donate 10 percent of their sales that day to the JJ’s Restaurant Support Fund, an account set up and managed by the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association. The funds will be turned over to JJ’s owners and team to help staff members.

Among the restaurants participating are: Blue Bird Bistro, Café Trio, Extra Virgin, Lew’s Grill & Bar, Lidia’s Kansas City, Mio - an Italian Trattoria, Nica’s 320, Oklahoma Joe’s Barbecue, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Story, Tavern at Mission Farms and Tavern in the Village, The Jacobson, and V’s Italiano Ristorante.

For a complete list of participating restaurants, visit http://pitch.pe/13b3fb2 or the association’s Facebook page at facebook.com/GKCRA.

Those wishing to make a donation directly to the fund may send a check or money order by Thursday to: Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association, JJ’s Restaurant Support Fund, 4049 Pennsylvania Ave., Suite 204, KCMO, 64111
