Community Blood Center says donors urgently needed Friday

Updated: 2013-02-21T20:35:28Z

The Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City put out a plea this afternoon for donors to begin coming out again Friday after the snow has passed to give urgently needed blood.

The storm forced the Blood Center to close its six donation centers this morning. The bad weather also halted blood drives at community sites such as schools, businesses and places of worship. The Blood Center estimates that the storm will cause it to lose two full days’ supply of blood. It now has less than a day’s supply on hand.

For more information, or to make an appointment to donate, visit or call 816-753-4040.
