Macy’s and Penney’s spar over Martha Stewart

Let the pots and pans fly. J.C. Penney and Macy’s are duking it out in New York State Supreme Court over the right to sell Martha Stewart merchandise.

At the heart of the case is whether Macy’s has the exclusive right to sell certain Martha Stewart products, including cookware, bedding and bath items. In December 2011, J.C. Penney announced a partnership in which it would open Martha Stewart shops in most of its stores this spring.

Breakfast drinks

As companies struggle to increase cereal sales in the U.S., Kellogg and General Mills are preparing to roll out breakfast drinks. Kellogg CEO John Bryant said Wednesday it will offer a “Breakfast To Go” milk-based drink this year. And General Mills is testing a dairy-based breakfast shake called BFast that has whole grains and the nutrition of a bowl of cereal and milk.
