Second man is sentenced in death of 4-month-old girl

A Kansas City man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in the death of a 4-month-old girl.

Allen T. Green, 23, who pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder, admitted to conspiring with the baby’s father, Moreno Salinas, to kill Avee Marie Hunter without leaving any visible marks.

Avee died April 22, 2010, at Children’s Mercy Hospital of head trauma caused by being shaken.

Green told authorities he acted as the lookout each time Salinas abused the baby in attempts to kill her.

A Cass County jury found Salinas guilty of first-degree murder in December, and he was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

In a statement Tuesday, Cass County Prosecutor Teresa Hensley said: “The family attended the trial of Moreno Salinas. This was very difficult and emotional for them. By Allen Green pleading on Friday, it kept the family from having to sit through a second trial.”
