ESPNs College GameDay program will air live from Allen Fieldhouse for the fifth time on Saturday morning, leading off a day that will include Kansas matchup with Texas at 8 p.m. and Mario Chalmers jersey retirement ceremony during halftime.
The doors to Allen Fieldhouse will open at 7 a.m. and the first hour of the show will be aired on ESPNU at 9 a.m. The show, which features host Rece Davis and analysts Digger Phelps, Jay Bilas and Jalen Rose, will continue on ESPN at 10 a.m.
Its an infomercial for your school, KU coach Bill Self said, 12 hours or whatever it is. Our fans always do a great job of showing up for that, which we hope would be the case again.
Admittance is free to Allen Fieldhouse on a first-come, first-serve basis.
• Chalmers, the Most Outstanding Player of the 2008 NCAA Tournament, will have his No. 15 jersey retired during halftime. Chalmers, most famous for hitting a game-tying shot that sent the 2008 NCAA title game into overtime, will become the 28th mens player and first to be recruited by Bill Selfs staff to have his jersey retired.
It is a great accomplishment, Chalmers said, and it makes me proud to be a Jayhawk.
