KCK man charged in two-state police chase

Wyandotte County prosecutors filed felony charges today against a 32-year-old man who allegedly led police on a two-state high-speed chase Wednesday afternoon.

Rodney L. Houston, of Kansas City, Kan., was charged with one count of eluding a police officer. Bond was set at $100,000.

Kansas City police began pursuing a silver SUV as part of a robbery investigation. The suspect drove into Kansas City, Kan., chased by police as a television news helicopter provided live footage. The chase ended after the SUV collided with another vehicle at 51st Street and Georgia Avenue.

The suspect tried to escape on foot but quickly was taken into custody. The occupants of the vehicle struck by the SUV suffered minor injuries, police said.
